Classy Chicks is a classical string ensemble that originated in 2003. Atlanta area residents Mandi Watson, violinist, Tiffany Watson, violist, and Mary Beth Hussey, cellist, make up the trio. They can perform as a duo, trio, or quartet, and are available for weddings, private parties, and retirement home audiences.
Mary Beth Hussey, Cellist
Mary Beth Hussey, cellist, is attending Hartt School of Music in Fall 2008 where she received a full scholarship for a graduate performance diploma. In April 2004 she toured with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra to Taiwan. She recently won the Presidential and Berelli scholarships to Georgia State University , where she will work towards a major in cello performance. She graduated cum laude from Kennesaw State University in July 2003, double majoring in management and marketing with a minor in music. She has just returned from a ten week tour around the United States with the Royal Carl Rosa Opera Company from London, England. Along with performing, she teaches at the Atlanta Music Academy and Holy Innocents Episcopal School. She is a member of the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, Albany Symphony, and the Valdosta Symphony.
Mandi Watson, Violinist
Mandi Watson has studied violin for the past sixteen years, and has taught young players for the past seven years. She is a former member of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Cobb Symphony. As a member of Simply Strings Quartet for six years, Mandi has played in numerous venues around Atlanta. She attended The University of North Texas on a music scholarship and recently graduated with a Business Degree. She records and performs with local acoustic/rock artists in the Atlanta and Dallas areas. She also works as an administrative/sales assistant for Baldwin Violins, a local instrument shop.
Tiffany Watson, Violist
Tiffany Waston is a violin performance major studying at the University of North Texas on a music scholarship. Tiffany has studied violin and viola the past thirteen years. She was selected to play in Georgia 's All State Orchestra for three years, serving as assistant concert master one year. She was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra for four years, where she won a scholarship competition. Tiffany was named principal violist in the National Youth Orchestra Festival, and concert master of her high school orchestra. Since 1997 she has played throughout Atlanta with Simply Strings Quartet. Tiffany also performs with churches and rock bands, and had the opportunity to perform in Peru on a mission trip. |
